I was using the router (no wifi) supplied by BSNL for broadband access. Later when a wifi router fell into my lap, I knew nothing as to how to use it for BSNL connection. For a limited period of time, I was using the wifi router by connecting to the router I had. The LAN-only router establishes the connection, on to which the WIFI router is connected which in turn will give internet to all connected to it, wirelessly.
The solution worked for about a month until I ran out of power points to connect both. Thus I began to understand what exactly is needed. Here’s a step-by-step instruction that works for all wifi routers, not only for Beetel 450BXI.
Log in to the WIFI router from a browser. Generally the IP will be 192.168.1.1. Refer router manual for username and password
The only thing to do in your WIFI router is to make an entry in WIFI settings page similar to this.
If you notice closely, for BSNL connection to work fine, the VPI/VCI entry should be 0/35. If the present entry is different, click the button ‘Edit’ and follow the below screenshots.
Enter your BSNL username and password supplied with the connection. For example, if your landline number is 01234567890 and your name is Tony Jose, your password most probably will be “to123456789″
Once you have made an entry similar to this, everything should be good to go. Press ‘Save’ and do a WIFI router reboot.
